Netherton Grange is situated on the eastern edge of Nailsea, within walking distance of local schools, shops, leisure facilities and restaurants.

The Travel Plan is a document which contains a package of measures to encourage you to try sustainable alternatives to travelling by car.
The Travel Plan can offer real benefits not only to you, but also to the community that surrounds you. It can help to relieve local parking and congestion problems and improve public transport connections across the area.

WALKING
Walking is one of the cheapest, easiest, and simplest forms of transport, which is boosted by there being a range of shops and services accessible within a short walk from Netherton Grange.

Walking offers the greatest potential to replace short car and public transport trips, particularly those under a two-kilometre distance. It provides a healthy alternative to the private car and typically forms a component of many journeys made by public transport or by car.

Netherton Grange provides direct walking links with connections around the site and to the local area. Within Netherton Grange green spaces including ponds, play area, orchards and parkland are provided.
​
Surrounding Netherton Grange it is easy to walk to a range of local facilities with pavements and walking links provided along local roads to ensure you can easily and safely walk around the town and access many local facilities on foot.

You can walk to many local facilities within a 30-minute period from Netherton Grange. To help, we have summarised the distance and walk times several local facilities below. Bus stops are located within a 5-minute walk (450m), with Nailsea Town Centre located within a 30 minutes’ walk (2.4km).

CYCLING
Netherton Grange, and the surrounding areas are beautiful places to ride your bike with a wide variety of scenery, and designated traffic-free routes.

Cycling around Nailsea is available on the local road network, with roads generally subject to a 30mph speed limit. The town centre of Nailsea is accessible within an approximately 10-minute cycle, with Nailsea Post Office, Nailsea Library, Scotch Horn Leisure Centre, Millennium Park and further amenities all located here.
​
You can also access National Cycle Network Route 33 within a short ride from Netherton Grange. The cycle route starts on Brockway to the west of Millennium Park, before heading west to Long Ashton and connecting to the wider cycle network in Bristol.
Alternatively, the Avon Cycleway is located just to the south of Netherton Grange, routing along Netherton Wood Lane. This route exists as an 85-mile loop around Bristol, providing a picturesque journey throughout North Somerset, and a perfect route to explore on a leisure ride.

RUN COMMUTE
If you’ve never heard of run commuting, then it’s exactly what it sounds like. People choose to run to and from work, rather than driving, getting the bus, or using other modes.
It’s a trend that is growing in popularity too! In 2018, Strava recorded a 70% increase in run commutes compared to 2017, which itself was up 50% on 2016!
Running really is the perfect way to be more active – it’s free and you can start right outside your door! You can do it as little or as often as you like and, with run commuting you can fit it into your daily routine.

Parkrun organise free, weekly, 5km timed runs around the world. They are open to everyone, free, and are safe and easy to take part in.
These events take place in pleasant parkland surroundings and they encourage people of every ability to take part; from those taking their first steps in running to Olympians.

Your nearest bus stops are located on Hannah Mode Road, to the north of Netherton Grange. Depending on where you are located within Netherton Grange, the stops are located within an approximately 5 minute walk (450m).

Where can I go on the bus?
X9
The X9 bus provides services approximately every 30 minutes, Monday to Saturday, with a service approximately every hour on Sundays. The service routes between Bristol and Nailsea via Long Ashton and Wraxall.

TRAIN
​
Nailsea and Backwell Railway Station is located approximately 2.3km south-east of Netherton Grange and is accessible within a 27 minute walk or 9 minute cycle.
​
The station benefits from direct half-hourly services to Yatton, Worle, Weston-Super-Mare and Bristol Temple Meads, with services every hour to Bridgwater and Taunton. Connections to the wider rail network are available via Bristol Temple Meads, providing access to desintations such as London Paddington, Reading and Birmingham.

Nailsea and Backwell Railway Station provides cycle parking for 20 bicycles and offers car parking for approximately 268 vehicles (including 7 accessible spaces) with a daily rate of £2.40. The station also offers a ticket office and ticket machines.

CAR SHARING & CAR CLUB

EFFICIENT DRIVING
Where driving is unavoidable the following please consider the following tips:
